USE ONLY SOFT KNIFE & ERASER, EASY WAY TO DRAW A REALISTIC PORTRAITURE

This is a fast-forward demonstration of portraiture drawing, which only utilized a soft knife to apply black pan pastel medium and followed by using premium erasers (electric, pen-style and kneaded) to create a variety of effects from block-in proportions (coarse) to a soft skin texture (fine). In addition,1” extra soft blender brush used to emphasize the focal length (a depth of field illusion).

Reference Photos for Painting

A brief demonstration of Portrait oil painting (only final layer), creating Skin textures by utilizing pointillism and glazing technique. It also provides some photography tips and examples for taking photos from a model to be used as reference sources for proportions and skin textures. Here are some photography tips for taking pictures from a model, intended to be used as reference sources for portrait painting. -Keep ISO on the lowest setting possible (ISO 100 is highest quality). -Use off-camera flash and external light source. -If your are not using a tripod, the shutter speed should be faster than the same fraction as your focal length. To simplify the fraction, as a rule of thumb keep the shutter speed setting above 1/200 second. -Pay particular attention to depth of felid. -Keep internal exposure setting optimum and achieve exposure externally by modifying light source power. -Change your camera setting to highest raw file format, require knowing how to edit raw files. -Consider fastest glass, f 1.8 or 2.8 prime 50 mm to 75 mm. -Always focus on the model eye which is closest to the lens.

 

NO FIXATIVE, CHARCOAL & PAN PASTEL DRAWIING

Here is a portrait drawing process time laps from block-in proportions to final skin texture. This portraiture is an alternate combination layers of pan pastel and charcoal pencils which intentionally this layers are not stabilized by work-over fixative in between layers, so premium erasers can be used as removal tools throughout all layers (for more harmonic highlights).
